The country of Scotland is an incredibly popular destination for vacations as it is greatly suitable for a range of vacations. If you enjoy breaks in the countryside the landscape ranges from plenty of breathtaking coastal destinations to mountains and woodlands further inland perfect for hikers, hill-walkers, mountain climbers, ramblers. In the following article I discuss Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland.

Edinburgh has some of the most highly interesting galleries and museums in the whole of the UK and within easy access is a superb collection of historical buildings, castles, country homes and fortified houses which are well worth a visit. The city of Edinburgh is a city which is composed of two parts, the Old Town and the New Town, which are immensely different to each other, however both are a World Heritage Site.

Although a capital the city is a surprisingly green place and not that far away from the city centre you will find yourself amid the most breathtaking countryside. 2 of the finest green areas in the heart of the city are Princes Street Gardens and the Royal Botanic Garden. Along Princes Street you will find the usual high street stores, in the West End you will discover smart boutiques, in the New Town you will find many designer products and in the Old Town there are a wealth of independent merchants, artisans and designers.

The city is renowned the world over for it huge number of festivals. referred to as Europe's festival capital the year's calendar is jam packed with festivals and events during each and every month of the year. The busiest month is August, with no less than 8 festivals taking place. Obviously this is an immensely difficult time to find an Edinburgh Hotel with a vacancy, so reserve your room as soon as you can.

The Edinburgh festival year ends, or starts, with Hogmanay. As well known is the excellent Edinburgh Fringe Festival and other festivals include; the Book Festival, Jazz Festival, Art Festival, Festival of Politics and more.

Accommodation In Edinburgh

As I mentioned above the worst month to find accommodation is August when almost all Edinburgh Hotels are fully booked. Sadly this is also true about Christmas and New Year which is often booked a full year ahead, so it really is crucially important to book early!

The city features a copious selection of hotels and guest houses ranging from inexpensive B&B to the amazingly highly priced first class 5 star luxury hotels with spas, gyms and the likes with an abundance of facilities and services. So whatever you can afford you can be sure to find the most suitable accommodation for you online.
